Matus1976's Akira Bike Project

- HOW TO HELP? AND/OR CONTRIBUTE -

How Can I help?

I have seen a few comments complaining how long my project is taking, building a motorcycle is not exactly a quick process, especially one that is not assembled out of cookie cutter parts. Be aware those guys on the Discover channel are ARTISTS not engineers.

If you contribute financially to the project I will eventually be distrubuting proprietary information relating to it in accordance with your contribution. These objects will be decided in the future, but will include things like a booklet on the design, glossy photos, or even a personal visit with the completed bike if the contribution is high enough!

Contact me at if you are interested in providing some of these materials.

(07-Mar-2007) I am currently ready to build the frame jig for the final version of the bike, the computer graphic of that design published on the Current progress page, or see here. Scrap aluminum is necessary (or machined aluminum brackets to get accurate angles) I will cast them myself but will need to machine the final surface to get accurate angles. The jig design is still in progress for fittings and mounts, but the overall design will remain. Materials needed for this

- 2" x 2" mild steel square tubing, 8' lengths.
- Aluminum "L" brackets, and other pieces (scrap aluminum can be used, only if large chunks)

(07-Mar-2007) Tube Bender - I am interested in Pro Tools Model 105 Tube Bender for this project, along with the Hole Saw drill press Jig.

(07-Mar-2007) TIG Welder. My prototypes bikes are MIG welded but any decent road worthy bike ought to be TIG welded.

At this time I am not currently looking for technical assistance, but in the near future will probably like technical assistance on

- tube bending
- machining
- aluminum casting
- welding
- composite equipment
- painting

I am also interested in getting this site redesigned and looking better, and adding a forum, though any time I spend on that would necessarliy not be time spent on the bike project!

Thanks everyone for any assistance and for your continued support.
I may not respond to all the encouraging emails I get but I do appreciate them.

Or for starters pick up any of the original Akira comics or the movie through the Amazon referrel system. Contribute to Otomo's work and to this project. (cmon people support Otomo's awesome work)

Sincerely,

Matus
